I take a lot of pictures with my phone when I'm out in the studio. I usually upload them to my Instagram. Recently I realized that not everyone is one Instagram and that you may like to see some of these pictures too...so I will try to do a post at least once a week where you get to see pottery that may be "in the works" so to speak....

Splash of G O L D

A WEEK AGO I RECEIVED A REQUEST FOR A COUPLE SPLASH PLATES IN GOLD. I'VE NEVER WORKED IN GOLD BEFORE, BUT I HAPPILY ACCEPTED THE CHALLENGE. I HAD TO GET SOME NEW GLAZE OF COURSE. I ENDED UP WITH A MAGIC METALLIC GOLD. IT'S A LITTLE DIFFERENT PROCESS THAN WHAT I'M USED TO. ONCE THE PLATE WAS BISQUE FIRED I THEN PUT A CLEAR COAT OF GLAZE ON AND FIRED FOR A SECOND TIME. NEXT THE GOLD GLAZE WAS PAINTED ON AND NOW I'M WAITING FOR THE MAGIC METALLIC MATTE SEALER TO ARRIVE SO I CAN FINISH THE LAST STEP. SO FAR I'M HAPPY WITH THE WAY THEY LOOK. I JUST HOPE THE MATTE CLEAR DOESN'T TAKE AWAY FROM THE BRILLIANCE OF THE GOLD TOO MUCH...

a new venture

I had a feeling this was going to be a good year for new happenings! My newest venture will be selling some of my pottery at a hip new store called the Junque Drawer in my hometown starting in April! I'm also excited to add new pieces to my own shop! I've been working on some really cool hand built box planters. I have two listed right now and am waiting to glaze the big one this week.

I'm feeling spring around the corner so I've been busy making lots of new planters and planning out my new garden! As much as I love winter, I'm getting a bit anxious for spring. I LOVE gardening!
