my good friend chaanda invited me last week to join the interior design etsy group! i'm very excited but wasn't sure if the timing was right or not since we're in the middle of buying a house and moving. but what the heck! i'm dying to get back into the studio and paint, even if it's something small. so i'm going to make the jump and contact the administrator this morning and see what i need to do to join.

a windy sunday...

i was hoping it would be nice today so i could go for another bike ride or walk the dogs a bit. instead it was windy. all day. and i'm not much for liking the wind. so i stayed inside most of the day except to drop an etsy order in the mail. =) my faithful collector in knoxville is adding to her collection of ACEO's this week. thanks k. you're the best!

....on friday, i received a phone call about doing some photography work for a friend of mine. so i went down to her shop, Planet Earth and the Four Directions Gallery, and took some shots. while i was there, i found these really cool earrings. she was selling them for only $3.50 which is such a steal! she caught me admiring them and paid me in earrings. the crazy thing is... i would have never thought of wearing them a year ago. but you know what? as i get older and get more creative in my work, i feel the need to express myself a little more through hats i wear, nose rings, or earrings for that matter. and as i write tonight, i'm wearing my new earrings, an old hat that was given to me from an old friend, and one of my diamond studs in my nose. =)

Euterpe's Music of the Orient ACEO

Euterpe's Music of the Orient is yet another muse that has been created as an ACEO. only this is a little smaller. 2 3/4" x 3 1/4" Because of the size difference it will be half of the original price of regular sized ACEO's. This card along with the others will be for sale in my etsy shop:
Soon, I should have buttons here on my blog so that way you can purchase them directly from me, here. =)

Calliope's Epic of Rumi ACEO

Calliope's Epic of Rumi has been a favorite of mine for quite some time. This is an ACEO
that has been printed on 140 lb coldpress acid free canson watercolor paper, painted over in watercolors, signed and dated on the back. I'm currently in the process of making buttons so that these small works can be purchased here on my blog directly from me.
As soon as I get the glitches all figured out, you'll be able to just click on a button and buy them through paypal.

Cleo-History Lesson ACEO

Cleo-History Lesson is one of the muses that I've printed and then painted over in watercolor. This is an ACEO measuring 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" on 140 lb coldpress acid free canson watercolor paper. Signed, dated and ready for your viewing pleasure. =)

Painted Muses

A couple weeks ago, I accidently printed an ACEO card on the wrong watercolor paper. I wasn't impressed with the dull colors. So today I was in the studio several times using the printer for non art related things, and saw the ACEO that I wasn't impressed with. Earlier I had decided that I was going to work on some watercolors. To make a long story short, I grabbed the dull ACEO and my watercolors and proceeded to paint over the print. Turns out I like it much better now! This is Thalia's Wonderland. It is a 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" ACEO on 140lb. coldpress acid free canson watercolor paper. Signed, dated and ready to join your collection!

batikish

as most of you know,
i'm a big fan of orange. =)
and lately i've been experimenting with acrylic. well, i also like watercolors. this painting is a combination of both. this painting reminds me of a batik. a process which i know nothing about except that i'm going to learn how to do it one of these days! this is a work in progress, but i thought i would share it with
you.

Naranja Nu Grass

I wasn't really planning on a new series, but it seems to be going in that direction. Naranja Nu Grass plays off of White Grass. It's a little more landscapish than I'd like. I am not much for painting landscapes, but...last fall when I was teaching at an elementary school, we created leave paintings over contour drawings of weeds. I remember having so much fun with this project and thought I would bring a little classroom to the canvas, or board, in this case. =)
