The Latest Soap Box...

I have a new style of soap
dish besides the amoeba
shape. This one is simple
and liked a little bit more
than the others by the
gents.

Last week I had five new soap dishes come out of the kiln and one is already gone! I thought I would give everyone a sneak peak before I list them @ MuddyPotts.

New Colors!

I had a very productive day today! Threw a couple bowls, a couple mugs, and an urn. The kiln is firing bisque right now. Oh, I snuck in a glazed vase that I've been waiting to get done too. I decided to run into town to get a few supplies. Good thing I went, there was a 50% off sale on glazes at Hobby Hut. Here's a sneak peak into a few new colors I'll be working with.

Checking In

I was going to throw tonight since I stopped to get a bag of clay after class, but... I watched a couple movies instead. One was Last Chance Harvey with Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson. I saw the previews last week. Good flick. I've always liked both of them. It made me miss London. The other one was Last Holiday with Queen Latifah. Another great flick! I've been wanting to see it for quite some time, but I forgot the title.

I have an upcoming show happening in Salida next month at the Art Matters Gallery down on 1st Street. It's called Go With the Flow. Internal Being and Reflect will be on display from November 4th through December 30th. So if you're in the neighborhood, stop by and see the gallery's new location at 119A East 1st Street.

a Cute pillow and an UgLy mug

I went to Salida today to suprise visit my parents. While we were out and about, we made it downtown to a new fabric shop that I've been wanting to go check out. It's called Fringe. They have fabric, supplies, yarn, buttons. And if that wasn't enough, they also have the coolest gift items. Anything from journals to luggage tags and books! Lots of books on sewing and knitting. AND they offer classes too! If I lived closer, I'd take one in a heart beat. (In my spare time of course.) Stop by and shop if your close by. http://www.fringefab.com/.
While we were there I bought some moda fabric with a refreshing print. I needed to make a couple new pillows for the spare room. (One is completed, the other is waiting for the insert.)The comforter has changed from brown to red and it needed a little contrast.

I had some pieces in the kiln that I pulled out tonight. One of them was a mug that I had reglazed. It was made in red clay and originally glazed with a white spotted glaze. It didn't turn out as well as I would have liked, so I decided to reglaze it. Apparently I had mixed the glazes up somehow and reglazed it with an orange spotted glaze. Now it's a real ugly mug, but so ugly that I actually like it.

Thank You Carbondale!

Night and Day
Last Friday, I was invited to Carbondale to install two of my sculptures to this years Art Around Town. D and I had a pleasant drive over Independence Pass and arrived in plenty of time. While we were there, we picked up Night and Day. It was in the Town Hall for a year. Now Aphrodite will have a new home there and Gucci has her own spot in a quaint little park on 4th and Main.
