Double the Fun

This has been a fun week for me. I've been real busy in the pottery studio, but still finding time to paint before I get all muddy...

I had so much fun painting the Desert Paint that I had to double the fun with these two little ones. This original is a 16x20 watercolor on canvas. I'm thinking about going real big next time around!

This morning I was checking in with a client to see if she had received her painting and how she liked it. Before I could send her an email there was one in my inbox from her saying how much she LOVED her painting! Of course this totally made my day and  inspired me to paint a new one. I'm working on a diptych, each canvas measuring 16x20. The first part of the painting is almost done. I liked the stage it's in right now and made a print. I'm excited to see how the piece looks when it's all finished! 

Caribbean Blue

...is the new color of our back door! I've been wanting to paint it for some time now and finally got around to it today. So, my first choice was a bright orange, but blue won 2:2. I only had to paint it twice. At first I was a little disappointed. The color didn't seem to match the swatch we had chosen. But once it dried, it matched perfectly! Now all I have to do is convince my hubby that the front door needs some color too!

  This is a picture I found that matches the color of our door. I would have taken a picture of ours, but I like to use natural light when photographing and it's pretty dark out right now. Perhaps down the road when I'm shooting in the pottery studio...

 

 

a tribute to Dempsey

One of my closest friends lost her boy Dempsey today. We have three dogs of our own and I can't imagine when their time with us is up. I'm at a loss for comforting words and hoped this painting of him would express my deepest condolences.

a new venture

I have some exciting news! Today I had a meeting with some sweet ladies at Regis University at the Colorado Springs campus to discuss big opportunities and an art show with my sister! I toured the halls and classrooms that have the potential to house some of my larger works + new ones. I am so excited and the ideas are flowing so fast I can hardly keep up. I knew this was going to be a great year for paintings!

Saying Goodbye

Saying goodbye to a piece of work that you've created can be bittersweet. I don't know about anyone else's feelings but my own and I usually feel happy, excited, and sad all at once! It's always fun to make a sale. It means someone actually likes what you do other than you, right? But it's a part of you that is leaving and will never return. And that, my friends, can be the sad part if you let it. So today, I am HAPPY to be sharing a part of me: my passion for painting and my love of horses with someone I've never met. Today Ghost of a Horse will have a great new home back east.
